I am a tenured Assistant Professor at a large Community College where I serve as the lead for the Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Data Analytics, Analysis and Visualization, and Certificate in Data Analytics, Analysis and Visualization.

I love working with my diverse students so they can leverage their skills to be competent and ethically sound data practitioners!

Metrics and Analytics Consultant, AVP | U.S. Bank | banking & financial services industry

In my nearly three years at U.S. Bank, I worked in an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Risk Compliance Operations organization as the primary point of contact for operational metrics. In this role, I did the following:

  • Served as the central point of contact for metrics for the Economic and Financial Crimes Compliance (EFCC) Operations organization. 
  • Developed Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) packages that were regularly reported to the executive leadership team and used to inform management decisions related to hiring and workflow prioritization. 
  • Served as a subject matter expert on special assignments and performed ad hoc analyses to support business goals.

Accomplishments and Results

  • Streamlined reporting processes via collaboration with technology operations and business process owners through mapping data tables, writing queries and programs in SQL and Python, and scheduling outputs
  • Developed reporting on critical risk and process indicators that are regularly reported to executive leadership and the US Bank Board of Directors and ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies
  • Built detailed operational model leveraging operational data inputs to identify appropriate staffing levels to effectively meet aggressive targets for consent order deliverables

Senior Data Science Consultant | IBM | technology industry

During my two years at IBM, I worked in the Client Center for Advanced Analytics in Columbus, Ohio on a number of cross-sector engagements. In this role, I did the following:

  • Consistently delivered on client engagements using data science and advanced analytics techniques including optimization, forecasting, predictive maintenance and quality, regression analysis, clustering and other machine learning techniques. 
  • Involved in all parts of project delivery from business and data understanding to modeling, evaluation, visualization and communication of results to cross-sector clients.

Accomplishments and Results

  • Delivered on Supply Chain scenario modeling project for a large pharmaceutical distributor which included inventory and network optimization for a network of 25 warehouses, 35k customers, 130k SKUs, 1.8k vendors, and over 350 million individual transaction records using IBM’s Supply Chain Scenario Model
  • Co-invented an approach for detecting non-optimal inventory management decisions in data (patent pending)
  • Developed and instructed a Social Media Analytics course for IBM’s Data Science Academy, training over 30 employees transitioning into data science careers
  • Developed a model that identified health care providers that would be most likely to respond to targeted treatment for large life science company which integrated customer’s internal CRM data, a variety of publicly available data sources, and third-party data using SQL, Python, SPSS Modeler, and Advanced Excel functionality
  • Involved in the interviewing and hiring process for over 50 candidates as a certified IBM interviewer

In the 14 months that I spent in this role, I led a cross-functional team of 5 in the development of a strategic customer experience channel refresh roadmap integrating field services, customer contact center, web services, and IVR customer interaction points. In this role, I also did the following:

  • Derived customer insights from both qualitative and quantitative data and used analyses to influence decision making at various levels of the organization.
  • Applied research methods which included survey research, focus groups, third-party research, literature reviews, and longitudinal analysis.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst | NiSource | energy industry

Primary budgets and allocations point of contact for the IT, Supply Chain, Facilities and Legal departments within shared services organization.

Led a data load (ETL) process and supported strategic modeling efforts for a variety of financial scenarios including deploying capital expenditures, lease-buy analyses and other ad hoc analyses.

  • Served on Corporate United Way committee (lead for non-profit site visits and partnerships), Corporate Inclusion & Diversity Board, and NiFIT Project Change Champion
  • Designed, implemented and analyzed leadership interviews in a cross-functional effort that directly informed the development of a Financial Planning Competency Model
  • Developed first long-range plan corporate services fee book to communicate allocation of corporate expenses to company stakeholders and leadership
  • Earned Lean Six-Sigma Greenbelt for completing coursework and leading a project that reduced the load time of the corporate Strategic Financial Planning Model (ETL process) by more than 40%
